If his name isn't a giveaway, I don't know what is. And everything about him is so eerily familiar that it can't be mere coincidence that he and Axel are similar in some ways.

... there are... people here that seem to be from the past. Even Sora and Riku seemed to have aged down significantly since we last saw them.

Sora was older before, but then he disappeared and came back like he is now. Ven must be from the past, since Lea knows him. Everyone seems to come from a different time.
